
On 23rd February 2012, a half day National Dissemination and Validation Meeting will be convened at Hotel Africana in Kampala from 09.00 am to 01:30 pm to discuss the draft National Investment Policy for Aquaculture Parks (APs) as well as a study on Constraints and Opportunities for SMEs in the Oil and Gas sector.
The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) received support from the Investment Climate and Business Environment Research Fund (a joint project of Trust Africa and the International Development Research Centre) to:
1. Develop a National Investment Policy for Aquaculture Parks (APs) in Uganda
2. Carry out a Study on the Constraints and Opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Investment in the Oil and Gas Sector.
The Presidential Investor Roundtable Technical Working Group (PIRT TWG) of the Fisheries sector together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries assisted by UIA has completed the crafting of the draft National Investment Policy for Aquaculture Parks (APs) in Uganda. This was done in consultation with all public and private stakeholders in aquaculture in regional workshops.
The study on constraints and opportunities for SMEs in the Oil and Gas sector was undertaken by UIA together with Makerere University. It is geared at proposing policy actions that will enhance SME investment in the Oil and Gas industry.
