South B Masterplan Description |
The South-B Sector (295ha) lies south of the Old Jinja road and it is traversed by the Namanve River and its swampy embankments, forming a vast green area in the bottom of a mild-sloped valley.
The West side of this Sector will be the location for the Freight Village, with its rail siding entering the Dry Port, and the Container Depots lined northwards.
The East side will provide all-purpose industrial plots and the location for the sewerage station. The swamp will be carefully landscaped and transformed into the green lung of the KIBP.
The following services will be located in South-B:
* Industrial activities will complement the KIBP logistics cluster which includes the Freight Village and the outsourcing activities. The larger plot will be allocated to a large scale land hungry industry with the potential to make a significant contribution to the development of the park. * The Dry Port, which forms the core of the Freight Village, will be linked to the railway, and will be in close proximity to the Inland Container Depots which will allow the freight forwarding sector to concentrate services at a single location. * The sewerage station which will serve the North, South-A and South-B Sectors and a waste transfer / incinerating station (WTIS). * The Namanve swamp will be landscaped to generate a distinctive and green open space
