The Ambassador thanked Mr Brendan McDonagh, the principle trainer from the UIA’s sister organisation, the International Development Ireland (IDI), for making the trip to Uganda. He commended the efforts of UIA and looked forward to working with them in supporting the increasing number of Irish Businesses wanting to invest in Uganda.
Mr. Jalobo-Piwang, who represented the UIA Board, at the closing ceremony of the training, emphasized the significance of the training to UIA’s drive to attracting investment in the county. He said the soon to be launched Strategic Plan 2016-2021 was all about job creation.
He informed the Ambassador and the officials from the Embassy about the Mr. Juma Kisaame led Board’s target to create one million jobs in the next five years. “We want to believe that however high we raise our stakes, the officials that have got this capacity training will measure”.
His sentiments echoed Mr. Kisaame’s emphasis on monitoring the outputs from the training, which he hoped would enable the team to develop bankable projects that will bring in the FDI which will create the much needed jobs.
Mr. Kisaame had, the previous evening, attended an evening reception for the trainers, UIA trainees and the Irish business community at the Ambassador’s residence.
