Sudan Delegates in meeting with UIA

Sudan delegates attracted by Uganda’s mineral sector

A 4 man delegation led by Dr. Abdalbagi Gailani Ahmed, a former minister of Minerals in Sudan visited Uganda Investment Authority with a solid interest in investing in the mineral sector.

Mr. Byensi Lawrence, the Acting Executive Director welcomed and thanked them for choosing Uganda as an investment destination. He informed them that the mining sector is guided by specific laws e.g. the Mining Act 2003 and the mining regulation 2004 and assured the investors  that  ministry of Energy with the follow up of UIA will issue them exploration and other licenses to start operation in Uganda.

He identified the various distributed minerals in the different areas of the country which include gold, high grade tin, tungsten, salt, beryllium, Cobalt, vermiculite phosphates Uranium and other rare earth elements. He welcomed the investors to add value to the minerals for both the local and export market.

He also informed them about the electronic One Stop Centre (www.eBiz.go.ug) that is currently under the final stages of amalgamation of services from all primary license giving agencies that include URSB, URA, KCCA, DCIC, Lands Registry and UIA.

Dr. Abdalbagi appreciated the political stability of the country and thanked UIA for its efforts in the establishment  of an electronic one stop center for investors.
