UIA Women Entrepreneurs Network

Uganda Investment Authority promotes and facilitates women-led and women-owned investments through a network called the Uganda Investment Authority Women Entrepreneurs Network (UIAWEN). Established in 2000, UIA WEN started with 50 members, and has grown to over 400 women over the years. UIA provides capacity building, advocacy, networking and business advisory services to the women. Due to the increasing number of women entrepreneurs in Uganda, UIA partners with other organisations, development partners and stakeholders to undertake these activities.

Success Stories

Hope Development Initiative (HDI)

Thank you to UIA for bringing the invisible voice of rural female smallholder farmers to the international business forum through its Women in Business funded tour to the Netherlands. The business training and networking opportunities provided an opportunity to HDI to access funding to promote its program.

May UIA continue developing inclusive and gender responsive business environments that benefit all.

During our travel to Netherlands, the matchmaking made enabled me visit Dr Avogel who own a model medicinal garden and has similar products, he inspired me to set up a big medicinal garden for tourist attraction and for study purposes, I managed to employee professional and technical team to carry on the project. Its so far successful and our raw materials are of better quality now, thus effective products and increased sales. I managed to visit different companies with my preferred machinery for my production and gardens and we are in contact with them.
