UIA participates in the Bujumbura investment Trade and Investment Fair

A team of Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) officials led by Mr. John Musajjakawa, a senior investment executive participated in the Bujumbura Trade and Investment Fair that took place from 3rd-7th October 2016 in Bujumbura Arts and Culture Palace, Burundi. This was to follow up on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between UIA and Burundi Investment Promotion Authority in July 2016.

It was officiated by Ministry of Governance’s Permanent Secretary; Ms. Marguerite Kamana who thanked UIA for honoring their invitation and hoped that this arrangement will be extended to other Ugandan government agencies so as to help Burundi learn some of the best practices from their counter parts from Uganda. “These arrangements would go further to strengthen and consolidate the EAC cooperation.” She added.

Mr. John informed the officials about the investment opportunities and ready bankable projects in the different sectors e.g. agro processing, mining, tourism, healthcare, education and ICT. He identified Uganda as a fully liberalized economy with competitive market access, good governance, a trainable workforce and a welcoming population.

The Chief Executive Officer of Burundi Investment Authority appreciated UIA’s collaboration and requested for more support in the exchange of technical expertise, knowledge and training opportunities between their respective members in the fields of Investment Promotion, Investment Facilitation, Investor Aftercare and Policy advocacy as well as through joint efforts in investment-related agendas.
