Deal Book for Ugandan women investors and entrepreneurs launched

The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) and the African Women Entrepreneurs Uganda Alumnae have launched the first-ever Deal Book for women investors and entrepreneurs.

The publication, launched by the United States Ambassador to Uganda, William Popp, celebrates the remarkable success stories of AWE alumnae and amplifies their visibility, helps in unlocking pathways for investment, and builds partnerships and growth opportunities.

In his speech, Ambassador Popp said: “Women are vital to economic growth and when they succeed, families thrive, communities develop, and economies are strengthened”.

Ambassador Popp said AWE is a long-term U.S. investment in Uganda’s future, and the support to date of over 750 women-owned businesses reflects “our commitment to support self-reliance through women’s economic empowerment, an investment that will be yielding real impact for years to come”.

According to UIA’s Director of Domestic Investment Division, Richard Nuwenyesiga, the Deal Book empowers women entrepreneurs by showcasing their investments and businesses to potential investors and bridging the gap of affordable financing as well as enabling them to scale and create more jobs.
