UIA busts Illegal Murram, sand & black soil Excavation Syndicate at Kampala Industrial and Business Park in Namanve

The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) on Monday 8th January 2018, exposed a syndicate of illegal murram, sand and black soil excavation at the Industrial and business park in Namanve through a joint operation with the Uganda Police.

The Authority acted after several tip offs from members of the public and had been investigating the matter. A grader excavator used in the illegal activities was impounded and the driver has been detained by the Police at Bweyogerere Police station to aid with investigations. A case of criminal trespass has been recorded and will be forwarded for onward prosecution.

The Uganda Investment Authority welcomes this operation as a step in the direction aimed at returning credibility to its operations and pledge our full committed support to the Uganda Police in case there is any trace of collusion of our staff with the syndicate in Namanve.
