Women hands-on capacity building tour at Makerere incubation Centre

Uganda Investment Authority today partnered with KACITA Women Entrepreneurs League (KAWEL) to organize and facilitate a study tour of the incubation center at Makerere University, located at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology. The tour was intended to expose the 15 business women, who are engaged in various sectors, to skills in value addition. It is hoped that the exposure will encourage women to venture into value addition, which will earn them more value for money and create additional jobs for the people they will employ, as opposed to being confined to trading.

During the study, the women learnt the importance of quality and well branded finished products. This, they learnt would give them a competitive edge in the national and regional market, which has become open and quite competitive.

The same group of women is scheduled to visit the Uganda Industrial Research Institute to establish how they can actualize their investment plans in value addition. Uganda Investment Authority promotes and facilitates women led and women owned investments through partnerships with other organizations, development partners and stakeholders by providing capacity building trainings, advocacy, networking and business advisory services to women under one network called Uganda Investment Authority Women Entrepreneurs Network (UIAWEN).
