Uganda businesses bounce back

Companies show resilience and bounce back from the Covid-19 pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic forced businesses worldwide to reinvent the ways in which they engaged with their audiences. In Uganda, it was no different. Innovation became the order of the day, and companies came up with unique and innovative concepts to cope.

The Bounce Back Event seeks to promote Uganda’s cutting-edge companies when it comes to business agility, innovation, and long-term sustainability, as the country bounces back from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event also provides an opportunity to raise awareness and showcase these businesses through a select group of international media who were invited from Europe and the Middle East to attend, and a live broadcast was aired to an audience at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Small business owners and innovators showcased their work to prompt discussion and business expansion, and leading speakers will talk with the audience about their tips for success and ways to attract an international customer base.

The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) will also use this platform to speak to the various investment opportunities that Uganda presents.

Robert Robert Mukiza, Director General, UIA, said, “Initiatives such as the Bounce Back event allow the businesses that are making a difference in our economy the opportunity to tell their story and, beyond that, to tell Uganda’s investment story. To nurture these businesses, the UIA provides both pre and post-investment support, which ensures that these businesses can grow in a positive investment environment. Our goal is to also ensure that Uganda can attract more Foreign Direct Investment as we continue to speak to the opportunities and partnerships that can be formed with businesses here.”

The event was staged at the Motiv Makers Space, Kampala, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the 16th of March,2022.

MoTIV CEO Japheth Kawanguzisaid,d “For us to attain economic recovery, we need to create an enabling environment that makes entrepreneurship in Uganda a very attractive sector to join. Creative thinking, innovation, and investment opportunities can also aid business recovery. As builders of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, we have started discussions to facilitate the provision of a start-up Act and will continue to support businesses to recover through offering business development training, marketplace, and investment opportunities to help rebuild businesses and transform the sector’s socio-economic trajectory upwards. ”
