The 2nd Kampala Private Equity and Venture Capital CEO’s Breakfast meeting

Uganda Investment Authority in partnership with other stakeholders is organizing the 2nd Kampala Private Equity and Venture Capital Conference scheduled for 21st-22nd June 2016 at Serena Hotel Kampala. It is organized by a powerful steering committee with officials from Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), African Alliance, East African Trade and Investment Hub, Uganda Insurers Association, Capital Markets Authority, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Enterprise Uganda and Uganda Manufacturers Association.

UIA highlights that the role is to explore options of offering affordable (low cost and longer term) finances to the SMEs. This annual Alternative Finance Convention is expected to cut through the clutter & confusion, making it easy to gain the knowledge, connections and tools needed to achieve success and raise the capital or funding SMEs need.

Last year, the PE/VC conference that attracted over 230 participants among whom were 190 SMEs and 10 PE/VC firms made more than one promising lead. Engagement continued online with some firms for instance; Unreasonable East Africa, XSML, NSSF, Mango Fund, GoBig Hub, African Alliance, Ascent, Accion, Pearl Capital Partners and Catalyst.

Likewise this year, the 2nd PE/VC conference under the theme enhancing the growth of SMEs through affordable alternative financing is expected to cause a resounding success as the Conference will feature inspirational and educational opportunities for everyone. Participants will enjoy a world-class lineup of speakers, stellar panels, interactive mentoring and coaching and breakout sessions. SMEs will have the chance to meet face-to-face with leading industry experts, fellow entrepreneurs, previous beneficiaries, renowned industry sponsors and investors. Unlike last year, there will be an exhibition for both the Corporates and SMEs who will showcase their services and products to the participants.

Alternative funding is evidently critical because increasing the flow of capital results into high growth of SMEs and this further strengthens the relationship between Private equity firms and SMEs specifically in the area of financing and growth of SMEs.
