Speech by UIA Director General at Investors’ Baraza 2025

Welcome to the Kampala Industrial and Business Park in Namanve for this pivotal investors’ Bazara 2025. Your presence reflects your commitment to Uganda’s industrialization and economic transformation, and I am honored to address you, the catalysts of our nation’s progress.

Our Strategic Plan 2020-2025, themed “Accelerating Domestic and Foreign Direct Investment for Sustainable Industrialization,” has delivered remarkable results, growing both Foreign Direct Investment and Domestic Investment, with over 60% of companies in this Industrial Park being local investors. As we finalize our ambitious Strategic Plan 2025-2030, we celebrate key milestones, including job creation and industrial growth.

Namanve Industrial Park exemplifies our success, hosting 447 investors and these companies have invested over USD 3.5 billion across sectors like agro-processing, ICT, manufacturing, agro processing, and pharmaceuticals.

In our next Strategic Plan 2025-2030, UIA is facilitating the transition of traders into manufacturing, starting with traders in Kampala’s Kikuubo business district, aimed at creating more jobs and contributing to growing the economy tenfold.

In 2024, UIA won a Sustainability Award from the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) in Saudi Arabia for green industrialization. In 2025, UIA was named the Second-Best Investment Promotion Agency in Africa at the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Awards in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. These accolades reflect our collective commitment to excellence and sustainability.

Specifically, I would like to thank the State Minister for Privatisation and Investment, Hon. Evelyn Anite, for leading that charge. All these accolades would not have been possible without your stewardship.

To enhance investment facilitation that is aimed at reducing the cost and time of doing business, UIA has set up a fully functional One-Stop Centre accessed physically at the UIA Head Offices in the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre in Kololo, Kampala, and online through integrated systems of agencies at www.ebiz.go.ug .

To-date, there are 11 Government Agencies at the One-Stop Centre under one roof, offering a wide range of services including: Investment Licensing within 24 hours upon submission of all requirements, Business and Company Registration, Tax Advisory and Registration services, Immigration Work Permits and Passes, UNBS Products and Services Certification, Lands Registry Verification, Industrial Water and Power services, Capital Markets, Tourism licensing, NSSF registration of employers and employees, and environmental impact assessments, among others.

The Industrial Parks Infrastructure development remains a priority. We thank the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development for the increased resources secured for industrial park infrastructure in FY2025/26.

In Namanve, UK Export Finance supports an Infrastructure Development Project delivering roads, water, sewerage, and ICT systems, among others.

Sustainability is a goal. Every UIA-licensed project undergoes a mandatory Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, certified by the National Environment Management Authority, ensuring industrialization preserves our natural heritage and environmental compliance.

UIA will continue to fulfill investor needs for land and affordable financing through facilitation and aftercare services. We will continue our facilitation programs, which include barazas and other visits, to keep you informed about markets, business linkages, and access to affordable finance.

I strongly recommend that you take advantage of our incentives and visit our One-Stop Centre for more streamlined services.

My heartfelt thanks go to H.E. the President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, the State Minister for Privatisation and Investment, our Board of Directors, chaired by Dr. Robert Kyamanywa, and our dear Domestic and Foreign Investors, for choosing Uganda as your investment destination, creating jobs, and transforming lives.

Let us forge ahead with unity, building a prosperous, industrialized Uganda for future generations.

Thank you, and may God bless you all.
